  • Students are asked to check the lost and found located outside the office for items that may belong to you.
  • The Nurse Practitioner will be at the school on Wednesday, please see Darlene in the YHC to book an appointment.

  • Mi'kmaq and Indigenous students in grade 10-12 are invited to a fabulous day at Dalhousie University on Tuesday November 21st!  Transportation, snacks, lunch, merch and interactive presentations will be included.  Dal will even waive the application fee!  See Ms Marsha to sign up!

  • For students in grades 7-12: - Do you like to crochet or knit?  Would you like to learn?  Drop by Ms. Walsh’s office each day at lunch for Sittin’ and Knittin’. Learn to make something cozy for yourself, a loved one, or make baby hats and finger puppets to donate to the IWK.

  • October is Mi'kmaw History Month!  This year the theme is Mi’kmaw Sports, Traditional Games and Pastimes.

  • In 1986, the then Grand Chief Donald Marshall Sr. proclaimed every October 1st as Treaty Day. It commemorates the key role of treaties in the relationship between the Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq and the Crown.  By celebrating Treaty Day, we are giving thanks to the Mi’kmaw and the Crown for signing treaties of peace and friendship.  We are all Treaty People.

  • Do you have your Social Insurance Numnber?  If not a representative from Service Canda will be at MDA on Nov 27th from 11-1:30pm.  You will require your original birth certificate, and another piece of ID (health card) to apply for your SIN#.  The proces is open to both students and younger children of staff if you don't have your child/ren's SIN and it only takes a few mintues.  If you have any questions, please conact School Liaison, Dawn Gardiner (Howe-Power) at 902-885-5477 or dawn.howepower@halifax.ymca.ca.
